Some of the Many Benefits of Hard Work:

By Qasim Swati (United Kingdom)

As asserted by an American professional soccer player (Timothy Tarpeh Weah), that “With hard work and dedication, anything is possible”, working hard has many advantages, merits and benefits. It is the hard work you do that can, one day, enable you to make your dreams come true. No matter how much you may suffer, while struggling for achieving what you dream about, a time may come when you can win the race and get what you wish for. If you are hard working, you can expect some good results of your efforts at some point in your life in some form. This is what has been referred to by an American athlete, Carli Anne Hollins or simply known, as Carli Lloyd, as: “If you have a dream, it’s definitely achievable through hard work, through dedication, sacrifice, everything.”

If you are lazy, inactive and work-shy, nothing but good luck or a miracle can be the only factor responsible for your success. That is why a former American coach, analyst and player, Louis Leo Holtz, while distinguishing between winners and losers, said, as: “Winners embrace hard work. They love the discipline of it, the trade-off they’re making to win. Losers, on the other hand, see it as punishment. And that’s the difference.”

Whatever we see or hear about in the world in the form of huge buildings, beautiful parks, gardens, gigantic bridges, massive tunnels, incredible roads and motorways, industries, airports, seaports, other famous cities and places and numerous inventions and discoveries, these are all the results and outcomes of the hard work done by those who used to work hard day and night. This is what an American fashion designer, billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Ralph Lauren, has said about it in these words: “A lot of hard work is hidden behind nice things.”

Your hard work can make you unique and distinguished from the rest of your group everywhere. You can be recognised and rewarded with many benefits in your workplace due to your continuous, constant and fruitful hard work, which can inspire your other co-workers, as well, which the company or business you are working for, can benefit from, accordingly. This is one of your good qualities and characteristics, required for your recognition, which an American musician, Dr. Dre/Andre Romelle Young, has talked about, as: “You just have to find that thing that’s special about you that distinguishes you from all others, and through true talent, hard work and passion, anything can happen.”

You can be respected in your place of work, within your family, among your friends and in the society, as a whole, because of your hard work you put in whatever you undertake. As a result, the efforts you make can give you honour, prestige, fame and renown among others. This was the reason behind what Ma Long, a Chinese athlete, stated about the importance of hard work, as: “Glory is attained from hard work, step by step.”

This is very essential for your personal and professional development to have trust in your own qualities, abilities and judgement. However, hard work is hugely beneficial for building your self-confidence, because the more you work hard, the more it can boost your confidence in yourself. This is what, how and why David Beckham, a famous English former professional footballer, the present president & co-owner of Inter Miami CF and co-owner of the Salford City Football Club, has shed light on his own life experience, in connection with the significance of hard work, in these words: “That was my way of getting through difficult times of low confidence – hard work.”

In a nutshell, this is crystal clear that no one with a sensible and responsible mindset can ignore the importance of hard work, as working hard has so many benefits in our daily lives. Hard work is not only beneficial for your own professional and personal growth, but this is immensely helpful for the wellbeing and development of others around you in many ways as well. This was because of such value and significance of hard work that a renowned Chinese/Filipino businessman and investor, Henry Sy (1924-2019), once said, “There is no substitute for hard work. There is no such thing as an overnight success or easy money.”
